As SC09 kicks off this week, The Register is launching its HPC channel – a spot on their site for supercomputing articles, blogs, webcasts, forums, research panels, and all things HPC.
This new feature will cover both the traditional and new HPC markets. Traditional markets are pretty easy to figure out: scientific users such as research labs, and the typical business users like Wall Street, oil barons, pharma, manufacturing, etc. When we say ‘new HPC,’ we’re talking about a coming trend toward much greater use of predictive analytics to streamline and optimize all sorts of organizations. For many of these customers, this move will be an eye-opener as they realize that the computation, data, and storage needs to support these efforts can be profound, and will require at the very least a different mindset and toolbox.
Our own Dan Olds has joined this venture as resident analyst. (Who wouldn’t want to post their blogs on The Register and thus submit themselves to vicious, personal attacks from Reg readers?) Read the new content and join the HPC Community here.
